i believe this is a lunar eclipse?
speaking as the resident astronomer, i highly recommend you go and see it!
Whilst not as spectacular as a solar eclipse, it is still very cool!
I remember seeing one in Switzerland years ago..

Rather spectacular from out here in Cardiff - this was the best photo I got (2s, f/5.6, ISO1600), taken around 20 minutes before mid-eclipse at 23.21. I have a couple of hundred shots of last night, but it's bloody hard holding a camera still enough for a 5-10 second exposure. From earlier in the event, this photo (1/400s, f/20, ISO1600) was taken about 10 minutes after the moon entered the umbra. For the photographers here (because I know there are a few), those were taken using a Nikon D100 with a Tamron 70-300 Di LD lens. Both were hand-held... self-timers are your friend if, like me, holding a camera still for long enough isn't so much of a problem, it's just the way everything moves when you trip the shutter. Next time, I'm taking a tripod... -Jon [edit] I need to take my camera out of auto-ISO mode for this stuff, I can tell... [/edit]
