Did i hear this correctly? "We're a 24 hours supermarket. Press 1 for hour opening hours"
That is my kind of low grade humour! Briliant!

Might be open 24 hrs, but only 6 hrs on sundays!

Yeh, probably! Makes you wonder why 24 hour supermarkets have locks on the doors though!

That is pure genius. Hard to believe the woman didn't realise what she was saying. Bit of a Bart Simpson/Mo's Tavern thing going on there. ;D

Presumably the announcer's brain cell had gone for a walk.
Delightful.

Well I suppose that even if she did get the joke, she wasn't allowed to turn down a request like that.

I have a friend who, until recently, worked for Adsa - she has assured me that the tone you hear whilst the caller is transferred to 'customer services' is a bog standard Asda job. On top of that, she say's all announcements can only be made by the 'customer service' desk. In her opinion, it is totally genuine.

I too must confess I thought the accent was Australian I went to see a band on Sunday night [Lez Zeppelin] that are based in New York, although the lead singer is Australian. Apparently American audiences frequently ask her why she is putting on an English accent

He's definitely of a southern African background but as Henry Higgins would no doubt attest, I detect something else. Obviously he's lived in the UK long enough to know the store rivalry. Having lived for some time south of the boerewors curtain I suspect he may be more of a Rhodie.

Not the announcer, the guy behind the prank-he sounded Australian to me. Listened to it again, he is indeed a South Effricaan!

Listened to it again, he is indeed a South Effricaan! One of the things I was taught as a kid was that if you hear an accent you just can't quite place, it's (almost) always South Effricaan. Stood me in good stead several times over the years, including this time.

There's the slight technicality that Marc Bolan has been dead for years! While true, this is not really relevant - Marc Bolan was the lead in T-Rex, not Led Zeppelin!
