There's been some work going on at Cockfosters Depot and now starting next week at Stanmore Sdgs called the WONCR Project,sounds like something teenage boys do,can someone enlighten me?

Why have a special "name" for it?Most engineering work is on or near current rails. I don't know - I must admit when I first came across these terms recently on some documents, I was very confused! When engineers take a sidings under possession, the current can be switched off or on depending on the actual works. This new term is to differentiate between possessions that keep traction current on, and those that have arrangements to operate section switches or other arrangements to enable traction current to be switched off in the possession. Thats my guess anyway. |
