That's what most sources are suggesting but it's probably just speculation at this stage. I must admit I find it hard to believe that speeding alone could result in complete wheelset failure though...

I am sure everyone on the forum will support me in expressing our deepest condolences for the dead and their familes. Lets hope the injured make a speedy recovery.

Apparantly the train was speeding, and the death toll had sadly risen to 41. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/5147022.stmIt says in the article that the driver may have suffered a "heart attack". Surely then the dead mans handle would have kicked in, or aren't all trains fitted with such technology?
