St. Petersburg Metro Turns 50

Yesterday, St. Petersburg Metro celebrated its 50th anniversary. On 15.11.1955, the service commenced between "Avtovo" and "Ploschad Vosstaniya" stations.

Some figures:

• 104 kilometres of track;
  
• 4 lines;
  
• 59 stations;
  
• 212 escalators with total length of 50 km;
  
• 13 000 members of staff;
  
• 2,5-3 millions passengers daily.
