I see that two firefighters have been killed in East Sussex, at the site of a fireworks factory that caught fire.
I know this has nothing to do with the forum, but when I heard about this I thought the whole subject was absolutely horrible - this shouldn't be happening in modern times. The point of this thread is that I think that we should never forget our emergency services and sometimes, to protect the public like us, this sort of things happens. I would like to salute those people that put their safety on the line for others, and say that it is extremely brave. In this case, people paid the ultimate sacrifice.
As said, apoligies for going off forum topic, but this isn't nice when it happens, and we should be grateful to those that protect us in their work with emergency services.
As said, the whole story about the fireworks factory makes me feel pretty sad. It's not nice.

Agree 100% Alex.
I am wound right up by these scum that do crank calls, or these yobbo's that pelt fire engines with bricks and stones, whilst they are dealing with a fire, and possibly trying to save someone's life.
They should be charged with [Attempted] Murder/Manslaughter.

I can't understand it either Tubeboy - having a go at the fire brigade is so, so stupid - if a yobbos house caught fire, who else would put it out? The scum are so thick they can't even see this for themselves. Unfortunately scum are part of the world we're in and only right thinking people can do something about it, sadly they are in short supply, and getting shorter all the time

Admin:
Strong feelings on a good point. By all means continue the support etc., but don't be surprised if one of us moves it to 'rant' since the scum have come into it again, as they so often do when public services are involved.

I suspect Oracle meant that their deaths were the result of an explosion at a fireworks factory, and that it was simply a very tragic accident. Whilst I do understand the "scum" comments (it's a big problem round my way too), who said "scum" were involved?
No one knows the exact cause yet.

I said scum, as did Alex. I said it in a general context, to describe the "people" who physically attack firemen with bottles, bricks and stones carrying out their duty, and not to this particular story.

Tubeboy is absolutely right - I started the thread after reading the story on the AOL homepage, and the point about bottles and stones was added after.
