announced today, is the plan for the 2012 transport. See the BBC NEWS article here that tells us all about it! also from further back on the official 2012 site there is an article ( HERE) that describes them as "bullet trains" Really? ;D apparently they go 140mph, but that isn't that much compared to other trains built by Hitachi for Japan. AND the wikipedia article.

They will [before, during and after the games] run between St Pancras and the Medway towns, due to the much shorter journey times, compared to say travelling from Victoria, London Bridge, the fares will be much higher.
Agree with ChrisA, nice trains, remind me of the TGV Duplex trains!

use them for the southern domestic services like other ones built and also to keep them on the same route as there will be many people living in East London who will want to use them. Remember these trains will come into service in 2009 that will leave 3 years to iron out any creases and also to get a solid user base that will use them regularly.
use them on the circle ;D that would really mess up pjrb, do you think we should tell him? ;D

Reminds me more of the Pendolino. Nice train though.

I clicked on the BBC link, to see "Red" Ken in front of a class 395, so there is something bigger than his ego?

How about he takes himself out of service, on a permanent basis?!
That nasally, whining voice of his does my head in!!!!!

would he be preserved for heritage purposes? I doubt it!
I took the 15H the other day and even though the interiors are re-furbed and it has a dash from a Dart, they still have the quality of the RM. It isn't the fact that it is open platform it is the quality of materials and the quality of the interiors.
Oh no, he's off again!

Remember these trains will come into service in 2009 that will leave 3 years to iron out any creases and also to get a solid user base that will use them regularly. Plus three years of spray paint, scratching and acid-etching! Will they actually be used to 140mph, unlike the 91s?

That's a nice train!! What will they do with them after the games? Wrong question, as has been hinted at above. The real question is what do they do about the posh Kent commuters, who HAVE been persuaded to get super-expensive seasons on these trains and have been using them for up to 3 years, during the Olympics? With the Javelins doing all the Stratford shuttles, just what WILL they put on the CTRL domestics? I guess the Kent commuter will be even more vociferous in protest than your average Metrolander! That's assuming anyone will WANT to pay so much extra for the privilege of going to KXSP and then trying to get to the City (rather than from Cannon St, London Bridge, Blackfriars...........)

Thameslink. ;D Seriously though, the papers reported around 2 weeks ago Thameslink will be majorly expanded. Whether that comes to fruition is another issue (CrossFail anyone? : .

The "train" Ken's photographed with was actually a mock up of the front end of a Javelin train.
