Whoops!
Chucked me uniform in the wash earlier, to rid it of 'Aroma de la tunnel' [!] and in my rush to do that, sort out shopping list, check answer phone messages etc, forgot to reset the washing machine from it's previous setting of... 90 c.
Result: I now have rather blotchy polo and bedraggled polo shirts. And trousers which have, sort of, shrunk a little bit.
Oh dear.

memo to park royal t/o 92!. Anyone notice [or is it me] that when you wash your parka you have to spin it a few times to get rid of excess water. It seems to soak water up like a sponge.

Ah the parka. I have one; it's one that'll fit an elephant quite easily. I have tried to get them at Park Royal to exchange it for me, for a more appropriate size. Alas now I have tried twice and keep getting a 'replacement' of the same size. I've sort of given up hope on getting ALL of my uniform quota. STILL waiting for three polo shirts.
I guess 'Aroma de la tunnel' could be marketed in some way, yes.

I guess 'Aroma de la tunnel' could be marketed in some way, yes. Not quite connected I know, but in 1990 one idea on the ELL was to equip each car with it's own aroma, due to the age and damp conditions of the Thames Tunnel. So 'Aroma de la Tunnel' has existed is some sort of way.

Unbeknown or simply unnoticed, I have found that each station, has its own particular aroma. Old Street/Hanger Lane = traffic fumes Waterloo= Coffee and bread

yes i remember that alex, a variety of odours were used, i cant remember what they were, was one pot pourri? However customers were not used to the sweet smell, and frequently informed staff they could smell burning brakes. Top brass then put the brakes on the idea [ no pun intended]!

Totally agree t/0 92! I am still waiting for 3 shirts for the last six months. A couple of people on my station group are STILL wearing the "smurf" parka, as they keep getting sent the new one which is too big.

For some reason uniform stores thought I would like an XXL parka to go with my L anorak! Not that I wear either very often...
On the subject of "Aroma de tunnel", I seem to remember an experiment a few years ago with perfume on the stations that was cut short when it made people feel ill!

When I requested my uniform, I ensured I selected LARGE for the polo shirts. I got my issue of seven shirts, but strangely, three were what I asked for, three were XXL, and the remaining one could be used as a tent! It was HUGE! Same with the fleece thing. Got that in triple XL too. The uniform has been back and forth like the Aldwych Shuttle... I have given up ALL hope of getting my quota. Why can't we go down there and pick it ourselves??? In fact whats to stop us?

I think you can go down to park royal personally, but you cant just walk in, they need to know your coming.
