Hmm, this forum doesn't seem to have a section for matters pertaining to London Underground Replacement Buses .... Admin please feel free to move this if it is mis-placed. Thought those viewing might like to see the two historic UndergrounD style designs (diamonds and bars) used on some of the First bus fleet based at Dagenham Depot. With TfL now clamping down heavily on innovation in contractor's service bus route displays, one can probably assume LUL bus blinds will soon be on the agenda which may be good or bad depending upon the operator !

Very good. Nice one for posting them Aspect! I like blinds (or anything in fact) that has a bit of historical relevance, and when presented in a nice way such as these blinds it's all the better. Great stuff.

You should see the ones on the really old things running the Richmond branch replacement services.
I had no idea that such blinds existed - good old-fashioned 1950s Old Johnston blinds in ALLCAPS...

It certainly makes a pleasant change to see first making an effort - I saw one on these on the A13, and assumed it was a Blue Triangle one as they usually make more effort.
Having said all that, I was under the impression that as part of the contracts, buses on rail replacement were supposed to show blinds with the lines colour so that customers are given the impression of 'seamless' travel. Either i'm wrong, or the policy has changed.

It certainly makes a pleasant change to see first making an effort When you say 'first' making an effort, AIUI, it is all down to one person - isn't that right aspect? ;D ;D

It certainly makes a pleasant change to see first making an effort - Which happens once in a blue moon unless they're sucking up to Livingstone...

Having said all that, I was under the impression that as part of the contracts, buses on rail replacement were supposed to show blinds with the lines colour so that customers are given the impression of 'seamless' travel. Either i'm wrong, or the policy has changed. I don't believe it has ever been a part of the contracting process that blinds are displayed in line colour or indeed at all. Capital Citybus at one time had most LUL lines featured on the main display, with a large selection of LUL reversing points in the appropriate line colour in the destination display. This was then followed in a similar theme by Sullivan Bus. Blue Triangle never had the LUL reversing points, but did have the coloured main displays. As more routes were won, blinds became too long, so was reduced to reference to Underground with a roundel in the top and "All Stations" "Limited Stop" etc.. in the destination. In Contrast operators like Stagecoach, London General, East Thames, manage little more than "Railway Replacement Bus".... if you are lucky ! Mini Line diagrams and destination slipboards are a contract requirement, but are supplied by TfL. Disability Discrimination Act compliant displays are deeper ever reducing what can be fitted on the maximum blind length. (Technically it doesn't apply to rail buses, but the buses are not used exclusively on rail work) TfL are taking more and more interest in blind displays ... but sadly the lowest common denominator seems to be taken as the "requirement" for the future

Here's a pic. I took of Northampton Transport bus 130, I was driving it on Central Line service in Liverpool Street. The destination display was the best I could get. Notice the full display on the Capital Citybus Olympian.

What's that in the background? a red RMC? In service? On RR duties? Staff training?? IIRC it was TfL's passenger information bus. The TfL staff who were controlling the bus service used it as their base - remember, Ken was in love with the RM then.
