That is why we need platform gates at minimum, to stop accidents, though people can still climb over and kill themselves. This should reduce accidents, but suicides might not drop. We shall see.

Ideally you want Platform Edge Doors, but these will be expensive and pretty useless on mainline as not all stock in the same and their doors wont line up correctly. And there are plenty of places lineside they can get on the track. I think it's better to help the people before they get to the station ready to jump though!

This incident was headline news in the ealing gazette this week.... "Hundreds of family and friends attended the funeral of murdered mother-of-two , wendy billing to celebrate her life and say thier final farewells. The mourners gathered in breakspear near ruislip for a moving ceremony for the fun loving hanwell mum who was stabbed several times in the chest while collecting her son john on 14th sept, The boys father sean francis, attacked wendy outside the caterpillar nursery in acton before fleeing the scene and hurling himself under a train at hanwell station at 5.10" All i have to say is it is scary at the thought of something so tragic happening so close to me, and the fact that the woman went to school with my uncle, is even more harrassing........ So thiers the offical facts for you

Thanks for that dstock, it looks as though he just completely snapped. The only good thing is that he didn't physically harm his children
