While this thread's here I might as well comment on London Tonight's (ITV) coverage this week, I'm not sure whether it's a tribute or just plain overkill in all honesty, allocating 10-15 minutes each night to the bombings and filming on location from each bomb area. What do others think? IMO while of course no-one will ever forget, I'm not sure it's something that people want to remember every single day either.....

I agree. On the news today all they were going on about was the bombings. I agree it was a bad thing and people saw some proper bad brown stuff on those days, but the date is 7/7, so why is there such a big wash up 2 days before? Are we going to have this every year for the rest of our lives?

Everyone should be proud, although recently the British people have been seen as dunkards, uncivilised and foul mouthed especially some football fanatics not to mention the influx of Chavs when unfortunate incidents like this happen the British people do show their true nature, we are not all tea drinking, cricket playing, is dissapointed if there is not a queue for everything because us Brits know how to queue, but we are all, deep down strangely proud of our country mainly because we lost so many men in world wars one and two fighting for our empire. They fought for our freedom and there is no way in hell some damn islamic extremists are going to scare us. The first day on the Somme with over 60,000 casualties is scary, but terrorists thinking its their right to blow themselves us for the sake of the misguided sense of reality have another thing coming. I'm sure in heaven, the victims of the bomb attacks are getting ready to go to hell and kick the brown stuff out of the ba***rds.

I'm very glad to say that everybody in this office respected the two minute silence in memory of the victims of the bombings.

Here down in Tesco's in Hythe, near Southampton, we all observed the two minutes' silence. Juliette was very tearful at seeing that chap who had two legs blown off, an eye lost and his spleen removed.

All good and decent Brits would have observed the two minute silence, so should have everyone in America!

I observed it today at Blackfriars. Some people didn't, which I thought was very rude. Another guy started joking about it. He asked why it wasn't that busy today, I replied "because of what day it is probably, 7/7", he started saying "everyone was just standing still in the street and giving me dirty looks", while laughing lightly. Anyway. Well done to all those people who did remember this atrocity. The day when 52 innocent people lost their lives.

We held two minutes silence at my station and it was obviously a very sombre situation.
I recall earlier in the week seeing a news item showing one of these misguided people praising the attack and promising more of the same. Why dont the media come together and agree not to give these individuals "free advertising". The media think they are keeping us informed, but they are allowing very disturbed people an opportunity to publicise, defend and glorify their evil actions and doctrines, which are an anathema to any decent civilised person.

Tubeboy, that's because, according to the conspiracy theorists, it's the government's policy to keep everyone afraid.
That way the public will accept increasing restrictions on what they can do and where they go "in the interests of national security".
Try reading newspapers of thirty-forty years ago, before Big Sister took the throne, you'll see far less scaremongering and a much more balanced style of reporting.

I was at Didcot at midday, Most passengers, if not all, stood, in most respectful silence on the station. The station staff kindly thanked everyone for thier observing of the two minutes. The Station Supervisor came round a praised a few people personally....

I was annoyed at the guard of the SWT service taking me into London today. At around 1158 I heard the PA crackling into action, and I thought an announcment would be made. Instead was "Welcome to the South West Trains service to London Waterloo, calling at Woking, Wimbledon and London Waterloo" - that was it. No mention, no nothing, despite a message about the silence being scrolled across the stations CIS displays. I observed it myself though. Others in the carriage were quiet but still reading newspaper, mags etc. Blatent ignorance.

Our science teacher didn't bother, he was too interested in electric current.

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

I observed the 2 minute silence with my family in the departure lounge of Barcelona Airport. Whilst no one else there did (to my knowledge) it was very moving for me. I deliberately went away for the build up of the first anniversary and deliberately travelled home today in order to keep myself busy. On the subject of TV coverage, I think it is right and proper for the media to highlight last years atrocity, it will fade out of the spotlight (as all things do) as time goes by. We will never forget what happened and we will never forget the customers that did not complete their journies that day. I am confused though as to why the media report the victims as having been killed, they were murdered not killed.

My Geography teacher was blabbing on about nothing related to the subject (never get any work done in Geography...!) so myself and a friend took part in the 2 minutes silence at noon today.

On friday at 12 noon our time I observed my own 2 minutes of silence. I had finished my work early so I flicked over my watch to timer mode and timed 2 minutes.
