Just remembered this fantastic announcement a T/op made on the Bakerloo on Wednesday (21st June) which made me and tubeboy chuckle!
We're running very slow though the city, somewhere near Regents Park if my memory serves me correctly, all of a sudden the traction current begins to turn itself on and off for long periods of time, with the saloon lights going off and only the emergency ones fed from the batteries operating.
The T/op comes over the PA and in a very cheerful voice announces 'ladies and gentlemen, I am sorry for the loss of lighting, someone needs to go and put 50p in the meter upstairs!' ;D
Despite the inconvenience of very slow running and loss of traction current, it’s nice to have heard the T/op trying to keep everyone’s spirits high with his fantastic announcements!
