Does anyone remember that series of The Tube with Miranda, the girl who went through the red light on the District, and really acted like she couldn't give a ****! Well, I had the honour of meeting her today. Amazingly, she's still working on the district and whats even more amazing is the fact she admitted she has done it loads of times since, the last a few days ago! I had a nice chat with her though, although she seemed pretty peed of about having to come to Ealing Broadway and then having to go to Tower Hill, for some reason, but she isn't afraid to talk about it, thats for sure! ;D ;D ;D

Hmm, so she could have been the reason things went a bit awry on Wednesday. I was at Earls Court when a Wimbleware was diverted to Mansion House because of a "defective train at High Street" (the poor driver had to put up with at least 5 people asking him "Are you going to Edgware Road?" and "How to do I get to Paddington?"). When I later went through Paddington later the Circle had delays "due to an earlier signal failure". If I remember the episode correctly, "signal failure" was the reason given to the Pax on that occasion (which was at HSK), explained as a "half truth" standing for "driver failure at a signal".

LOL. Yep, signal failure was the excuse she gave to me for most of the "accidents"

Not long returned from maternity leave.

Apprently, the mid-wife kept talking to her abouther "claim to fame", while she was giving birth! By the sounds of it, you guys, and gals, on the District are the most colourful of the lot, and I don't just mean green!

To take the flak off 'M' just a little bit! Tuesdays 'SPAD' was a non-lit 'semi' just east of the Tower!

Why is she still allowed to drive, if she's SPADed so many times??

Thats one question I would really like an answer to as well actually. She seems like a very nice person, and I only chatted to her for a couple of minutes, but I'm sure being a nice person, doesn't make up for putting potentially what is, many lives at risk!?

Lets slow down a bit. I do not know the T'Op in question but she would be dealt with in exactly the same way as any other Train Operator. She will also have gone through the same stringent recruitment and testing regime, as well as having passed all the exams/tests and will have been subject to a full Competence Assurance assessment program. As for putting lives at risk, lets not be too dramatic. A SPAD in itself on LU will does not present a great deal of danger, it is the actions of the Train Operator following the SPAD that are crucial. If any Train Operator failed to carry out the correct procedure then they would be subject to disciplinary action and most likely be demoted. Whilst I am not suggesting that it is 'ok' to SPAD on LU, we take SPAD incidents extremely seriously, I am trying to get some perspective here. There is a procedure for dealing with T'Ops who have multiple SPADs and this particular T'Op would be subject to that. I have listed in great detail how management deal with Train Operators who incur a SPAD elsewhere on the forum (Colin, HELP!). Needless to say that there is no possibility of reckless drivers (I'm not suggesting that this T'Op is incidently) being allowed to drive trains around the system. In the unlikely event someone so unsuitable slipped through the initial testing, they certainly woudn't get past the Instructor Operators or the Duty Managers on the road test.

I know the person in question, and despite any personal thoughts that I or any member may have - please bear in mind that you are discussing a current member of LUL staff that may well read this forum.EDIT:I have listed in great detail how management deal with Train Operators who incur a SPAD elsewhere on the forum (Colin, HELP!) Whilst you don't feature in this thread prjb, perhaps it is along the right lines: districtdave.proboards39.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1134169214&page=1

please bear in mind that you are discussing a current member of LUL staff that may well read this forum. I know that, and If she does read it she should know that she seems to be a very nice person with a hell of a lot of character. Sure, she SPADs a lot, but I imagine driving on the LU isn't the easiest job in the world, thats why I have the up-most respect for every member of LU staff! This was not put here as an intention to have a pick at her, quite the opposite! I met someone who was on TV, in a popular show (especially on here), and I wanted to share my experience, which was a great one, with you lot, and at the same time, we have all learnt something about the way SPADs and SPADDERs are handled on the LU (thanks to prjb). So overall, I think its a classic DD post And Miranda, if you do read this, next time your about at Ealing Broadway, take a check to see if i'm there please, as the next one, and many more, will be kinder to your pocket ;D Now, lets start the search for Dave ;D

Sorry Colin, I think I sent you on a wild goose chase. The comments I was referring to where actually about drivers accepting wrong signals. The procedure is broadly the same though and is listed here: districtdave.proboards39.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=rant&thread=1143256227&page=1As for being personal, I hope my post above was generic. Anywhere it may possibly have been interpreted that I was directly referring to the individual I made comment to clarify that this was not the case (as in: "I'm not suggesting that this T'Op is incidently"). Thanks.
