Anyone know if it is still somewhere on the system. I read a couple of years ago, the one that ran for many years had numerous faults and the powers that be would be choosing a replacement.

I remember hearing about one of the early tunnel cleaning trains. It appeared to do the job properly when it was tried out for the first time, but the motormen of the first few trains in the morning ended up looking like coal miners.

A modern analogy is the first train through a section of line that has been closed for weekend engineering work, the dust flies everywhere. Incidentallly how did it work was it like a giant hoover. I think?? it used compressed air and was the dirt was sucked/brushed away.

The old 38ts tct is lauguishing at Ruislip [well it was on Monday] the plan I have heard, is to convert one of the 72ts Mk 1 units laying around. I could think of using the 83ts at CFS or, erm, South Harrow.

Sorry to drag this thread off topic, but talking of trains languishing around in sidings .....
Is there an old 59/62 stock in the sidings (are they stabling sidings?) between Ruislip Gardens / West Ruilslip still? There was when I went past about 2 / 3 weeks ago.....
Is it just left there to rust and rot?

The 1938TS weedkiller was already replaced with a modified ballast wagon marshalled between top-and-tailed battery locos. Is it not possible to replace the 1938TS tunnel cleaner with something similar?
