As someone posted a thread on 'On the Buses', I thought I'd ask about members opinions on one of my favourite comedies, which is 'Are You Being Served'.
This programme is so un-politically correct it's untrue, and that's why I think it's so funny! The characters are all so likable and for a night shift worker like me it's good viewing on UK Gold at six thirty in the morning.
For the younger members, wondering about the thread title, this is the famous line by Mr. Humphries (played by John Inman), who is a rather camp gentleman to put it mildly.

Hmmmmm, love thy neighbour was most definitely not pc!!!. personally, rising damp, porridge, open all hours and fawlty towers are my favourites. I also like blackadder. I think comedy today is very poor, exceptions being little britain, league of gentleman and chris morris. Chris morris was the one who sent up the tabloid press in relation to the way they report paedophilia. politicians jumped on the bandwagon, condemning it, but they totally missed the point of it, naturally!! ;D

I love Are You Being Served. So much so that I check the UKTV website everyday to see when its on . Mr Humphries is the best character and its great when he answers the phone! ;D I think comedy today needs to take a look at back then, but sadly, all this PC rubbish will mean comedy in this country, will never be the same again

Besides Porridge, Open All Hours, On The Buses, I'm also partial to The Good Life...

Mr Humphries, are you free to serve this gentleman?
Sorry, Captain Peacocke, I'm sorting these socks.
He wants to buy a dress.
I'm free!

Got in this morning from work, only to discover UK Gold are not playing this show at 06:30 any more and got in it's place - As Time Goes By. This is the most boring, unfunny and depressing show I think I have ever seen.
