Hello, you lot. ;D Unfortunately, a recent lack of spark(s) has meant that I haven't been as productive as I should be on the photography front and at the moment I'm finding it hard to think of anything to actually do, especially as I'm trying to take it easy (as feeding the Oyster card does tend to bite when you're unemployed), but prompted by your very kind comments towards my recent batch of photographs taken at Borough and several PMs, I'd be more than happy to see to photography requests on the Underground. If you have any suggestions, please PM me or leave a message here in the thread, with maybe more information on what you would like to see and I will go out and snap it up when I am free. Whilst I generally just do what I call a 'Station Sweep' when I'm on location (general photographs of platforms, rolling stock, concourses, and anything else that sticks out and catches my eye), I'd happily snap up any features and things of interest to you if you point them out to me. Anne x Lovely mods: Feel free to move if this is in the wrong place.

Anne x Lovely mods: Feel free to move if this is in the wrong place. No need to move it. Sits well here. As to suggestions, how about starting an album of LU stations Then-and-Now? You could start with all the pics we've had in the quizzes over the months: a lot of them are old. Getting the shots from exactly the same spot could give you a nice challenge. Once you've exhausted that series, several of us have got hoards of other old pics which you could mimic. Could even end up with a book worth publishing! Another place to look for inspiration is this board

This is an open message to version3point1. Others may wish to comment on what I have to say.
May I suggest that almost any photographs that you take of the Underground system will be of value. We imagine that there are lots of people out there covering it, but there are not. Just look at this forum and consider what has happened in the last few weeks. When DrJimi asked for photos of the Wimbledon branch, members often had to go out and shoot them specially. Now that someone is working on the ELL, I expect to see similar requests - and these are mostly on the surface where photography is generally easier. There are noticeably less photographs taken underground. Remember how when David asked for a recent photograph of the Borough there were no responses at all? The most recent picture that he could find was one that he took in 1990. In the end you (version3point1) went down and helped us out. In the case of the Borough, the reason is obvious. It is one of those out-of-the-way through stations that does not shout out for anyone to visit it. Why would anyone with an interest in the Underground be tempted to go there, when there are other places that seem to demand attention? There are lots of stations just like Borough on the system. What usually happens is that when a station is redecorated, there are official photographs, when it is about to be altered (or closed) everyone rushes to the location to take pictures. Between times, there is little or nothing. When did anyone from this forum last visit St John's Wood, Belsize Park or Chancery Lane just to take photographs? When you do visit a station, may I advise you to look at the complete structure. We often see photographs of exteriors and platforms, fewer of booking halls and even less of anything in between. You never know what you will see if you look hard enough. Similar comments apply to photographs of rolling stock. Beyond that, there is something else that you could do. Most railway photographs are simply a record of a place or event. Having seen your website, I note that you have an artistic eye and are capable of adding a unique twist to what you see. May I ask that when you have finished your general sweep of the location, you take a couple of extra photographs purely for their aesthetic value. While we (myself included) will never have enough source material to answer all of our questions, it would be nice sometimes to look at a railway photograph purely for its artistic merit, in the same way that we would view a painting. There is no reason why people cannot be as creative with a camera as they are with a canvas; but for some reason they rarely think that way on the tube. I would very much like to see the occasional 'adventurous' shot from you.

Whoa... Hey CSLR you sound like me. I went to St johns Wood around the summer of last year then near Christmas then in January. I take photographs of the tube, yes. Not for the train number or just the station name plate. But yes for the artistic value. I said to version3point3 she should head north. Amazing stations up that end. Good words Cslr James

Some suggestions (on a purely selfish basis): Kennington Clapham Common or North Maida Vale Edgware Road Bakerloo Highgate Plaistow
Hope this helps...
