$SUBJECT.
I do know that LT was only responsible for the Underground, the bus network and the DLR, and that TfL is additionally responsible for river services, taxis, trams and so on, but what exactly does TfL do in the context of the GLA? What exactly does Kenny L control?

As I understand it, LT reported to the Government directly whilst TfL reports to the GLA. Effectively TfL is a new name for LT with different responsibilities and reporting structures.

There's a pretty good description of TfL's roles and responsibilities at www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/abt_tfl.shtmlBut, essentially as Tom said, it's a consderable expansion of the old system and is aimed towards better integration of all modes of transport within the GLA area.
