Afternoon all,
Quick one that occurred to me the other day: Now that FCC have taken over the cross-London franchise from Thameslink, will City / Kings Cross / West Hampstead Thameslink stations be renamed? Or shall the legacy that was Thameslink live on forever?!
Toodle pip!
Jim.

The official name of the franchise is Thaneslink Great Northern. Personally I can't see First going to the bother of changing the name of the stations.

Changing the name of KX Thameslink to anything involving their name would really confuse passengers as they also run the ex WAGN services out of the mainline station.

Plus there's also the question to what to call the box under St. Pancras Midland.
St. Pancras Thameslink sounds eminently sensible to me.

If Management were to do something then they'd only simplify the names, so Kings Cross Thameslink would become Kings Cross and so on. But TBH First are fairly tight you should see me wages slip so its unlikely they'd spend loads of money changing station names

Surely there isn't much point in giving the thameslink box a different name? As you say, it's right under the midland station, so I don't see why a different name is necessary. Isn't it all going to be part of the same complex? As for City Thameslink, how about Fleet Street or Ludgate Hill?

Isn't it all going to be part of the same complex? Now that you think about it, I guess it would make sense for its name to be in line with the rest of the complex. Given though that "St. Pancras" as a generic name now covers no less than four separate stations, suffixes would definitely be needed. I believe St. Pancras Midland Road is the intended name AFAIK. Ah, thanks for the reminder.

They've covered a 365 in vinyls to hide the NSE livery. I think they're planning to cover/repaint them all eventually, although it may have been a one off so they had something to display at the launch party. (Where a lack of forward planning resulted in a vast quantity of champage that hardly anyone invited could drink.)

The venue was Platform 9 at King's Cross. The majority of the people invited were on duty staff.

lets hope their control centre performs better than the tlink one [lack of info during disruption and none of their staff being round] meaning i have to take rubbish from all sides.

I had the pleasure of using First Crapital Connect last night. Great start, the 19:08 from Tooting was cancelled so had to get the 19:40 which meant I missed the first 10 minutes of the football! Two changes I noticed though: a) they've taken to broadcasting ETA statements via the help points (eg. The next train to Sutton has just left Streatham and will be with you shortly), and b) in the carriages they've gone round and blacked out the word Thameslink on all the route maps (so now you get City, West Hampstead etc)...
