Does anybody have a diagram/piccies/info of the tram route that used to run along the Edgware road though Cricklewood, Hendon, Burnt Oak and Edgware? Noticed them in a few photographs from the construction of the Edgware extension of the Northern line and got curious as I also found a bit about them as a proposed alternative extension rather than building the Edgware & Watford railway.
Nothing important, just idle curiosity.

I have a funny feeling that the route was replaced by buses around 1935, but don't know anything else.

I've done a little bit of trawling, and found some info on a modern - day bus route. I don't know if this relates to the tram route you refer to, but here goes:
The 666 trolleybus route commenced on 5th July 1936 replacing the route 66 tram from Acton through Harlesden, Willesden, Cricklewood, Edgware to Canons Park. The 666 as far as I can make out, now forms most of todays bus route 266.

The trams were run by London United Tramways, which was part of the Underground group. They were running well before the extension from Golders Green to Edgware. They were replaced by trolleybuses in 1936, although the story is a bit more complex than Alexh suggests.
On 5 July 36, route 666 was introduced from Edgware to Hammersmith. On 23 August 36, route 645 was introduced from Edgware via Cricklewood, Golders Green, and North Finchley to Barnet; route 664 was introduced from Edgware via Cricklewood and Craven Park to Paddington; and route 666 was cut back to peak hours only.
The trolleybus wiring initially stopped at Edgware, but it was found that the terminus got congested. On 1 June 38, the 645 was extended to Canons Park.
The 664 was withdrawn on 6 January 59 as part of the service cuts after the 1958 bus strike. The 666 and 645 were replaced on 2 January 62 by Routemasters on routes 266 and 245. Looking at the TfL map of bus routes from Edgware, it seems that these routes have vanished.
Information from London Trolleybus Routes, Capital Transport, 1994.
Edit: Q8 rightly points out that the trams around Edgware, Cricklewood, and Finchley were run by Metropolitan Electric Tramways. London United Tramways ran in West London. Both companies were owned by the Underground Combine.
