Will Google Earth be updated, so that one day we can view the whole of the UK in the detail that we can view London?

That is their intention. But by then the detailed parts will be SERiously out of Date. For example it still shows the OLD Wembley Stadium. How long since that went?

There have been a recent update of Google Earth a few times ago and you can see more parts of the UK.

Some parts of London already are very old. You can see a 117 pulling in to Gospel Oak! ;D

When I was looking at international metro's for the international google earth metro thread, I noticed that many new lines hadn't been built when the photos were taken. A good example being that Singapore's NE line is still under construction in the photos, yet it opened nearly 2-3 years ago. Still, even with some photos being a few years old, and most non-urban areas missing, it's still a quite amazing resource!

I'm a trained geographer, and I feel that Google Earth is not actually very useful unless you either already know the area or have a good map. It is fun for me to look at Sydney or London from above, and relate it to the view from on the ground. But if I were to look at (say) Delhi, Google Earth would tell me nothing at all.

It's useful if you want to know the terminus track layouts on the Mexico City Metro.
