With the introduction of the City Aiport extension (and soon the Stratford International one too!) isn't it about time the DLR got some colours on the Tube map to better distinguish the numerous routes? I'm thinking thin, possibly very bright coloured lines to differentiate between the DLR and Underground lines. All the various extension documents on the DLR site show routes in different colours, so is anything like this being planned for the main Tube map?
It could really help non-locals, especially now that the City Airport extension is here!

According to recent DLR statements line colours are indeed being discussed.

That would be great to see the differents line on the tube map, but I don't have the newest one so I cannot confirm what Phil say about the colours.

Ah, the niceties of the English Language!
When I said it was being discussed, it doesn't mean anyone's DONE anything about it yet, just that it is one of the things on a long 'to do' list.
Actually there may well be problems due to DDA. All the new colours will have to be not only different from each other but sufficiently different from all the existing colours that the visually impaired don't get confused
Could get quite difficult

You needn't have all the colours different to all the other colours if the pattern is different enough. See the black and white tube map (PDF) for example. The DLR could be done like the Circle line is on that map, with a lack of edging and light-printing denoting the difference between open and under-construction lines. |

If they do adopt different colours for the DLR route [which BTW already exist] then they should make them dashed or dotted lines to stop them being confused with tube lines. Young descendingsadly is a dab hand at that sort of thing. He could produce a dotted line colour version map in no time.
