Yes, just right. Don't forget to bring the current rails up to the boards though.

Jim, I love that picture, did you take it on a camera or your phone? A high-res version would be really good. I just like the symmetry of the trains.

img.photobucket.com/albums/v393/chili_peanuts/CCTV.jpgI've followed q8's advice and have the neggie rails beside each other so when walking down you either see two neggie rails or no neggie rails. I've also placed CCTV cameras on the walkboards to the cab and floodlights overlooking the main walkboards and trains.

Cheers David, yes it was taken with my phone as I didn't have my camera with me. It was taken at around 04.30 (the only time you will see that many trains in the depot) on a summer morning, and I'm just about to bring the first train out.

Looks way out in a billard-table-flat land suddenly encounting the Tyrolean Alps to me, DS . Anyway... Your track spacing is uncommonly generous. Try 11' 2". Your turnout lead looks far too short, particularly for a facing turnout. Try a dimension between 98' and 104'. Is that an unelectrified disused platform the turnout is leading to? Whatever it is, looks like it needs a trailing connection as well, via a single slip. The ground disc looks a bit 'non-LT' to me, and should be on the other side of its track. On the right-hand track, the positive conductor rail would terminate (and swap over to the other rail) before reaching the platform ramp, unless you're doing an early days District or Metropolitan. Love the girder bridge, but the supports look a tad skinny for that application. Russ

Thanks for the constructive criticism RussE, I shall do what I can regards to the 'flat board vs the Alps' this is because I havn't done scenery around the edges yet, thus it looks very out of place. Could you please describe a trailing connection to me? Thanks.

Could you please describe a trailing connection to me? Click here, and go to District Motorman's pic of the entrance to Ealing Common depot at night. That one's an 'outside' slip, and would suit your existing geometry better. In this case, the lead length for the trailing turnout would be more in the region of 57' to 63', with the flat diamond crossing vees at say 1:6.5 to 1:7.5, and the facing connection vees near to 1:4.5. Ah so the actually 'point' starts on the right hand side line and then the other line joins it. I've got you, some work for tomorrow for me. I have to say all these electric rails make everything look like spaghetti junction Cheers Russ.

A couple of other observations. On LU lines speed restriction boards are edged in black, not red. The "Six foot", the gap beteeen the running lines looks too generous for LU standards, it could do with being squeezed together a bit. The Positive rail on the right hand platform needs to change sides, you wouldn't see a positive rail on the platform edge side of a normal platform.

didn't know there was anyone with trainz on the forum... tis comng along quite nicely! those turnouts look very tight though even by LU standards. in surveyor tools drag out a ruler. for LU crosovers they should be about 50m long (that'd give you a 15mph crossover)
i'm working (albeit very slowly) on a 92TS for trainz... i'll send you a copy if you want when its a bit more pleasing to look at!
EDIT: just a thought guys. Some of you may not realise but there is virtually no LUL content in trainz yet. DS if you want anything just give me a shout, i'll see what i can whip up.

JN (sorry don't know your name) you have come to my rescue! I can build the route but I can't build the stuff to make it authentic, have you got MSN, maybe we could work together as I need quite a few bits for it.
Thanks.

My two'pennerth would be that the juice rails continue inside the sheds, would this be the case? The only LU depot I've ever been in (Morden) had them ending at the shed doors. In most depots they do end at the shed doors due to the inspection pits underneath, in some places (Stonebridge Park, White City(now closed) and Highgate Depots) some roads have no inspection pits underneath and the rails continue. If it interests anyone it is usual for traction current in depot sheds to be provided by power cables mounted on overhead trolley that travel the length of road on runway beams. However, the wash roads at Ealing Common do have current rails at floor level. lu-engineering.fpic.co.uk/p22820332.html

Thanks, I'll work on that tomorrow What about the track gangs is it common to see them around? That reminds me of the first time I took my depot track competence at Northfields. The trainer asked me to step into the six foot between two roads so I did. I then got a complete rollicking of him in front of everyone because it can't be considered a place of safety. I guess you get treated like that by a protection master... ;D
