img.photobucket.com/albums/v393/chili_peanuts/HandeDepot.jpgJust done that. Any people who have visited a depot, is the building there a bit too 'stationy' ? or is it good? also I'd like opinions on the shed that the trains are housed in and the space between the tracks. Thanks Didn't put this in simulations because I want a 'outside' comparison.

The building itself is Ok, there is a building very like that in Hammersmith Depot.
The platform at the rear makes things look too much like a station,it would look better if it was at track level.

Right, so you mean more like the track crossing at the left of the picture?

I've gotcha.
How many staff would be on the platform, and what would they be doing?

The platform would also make it impossible to check and test the Tripcock.

One othe thing I just spotted. The current rails would normally stop at the walkway across the tracks.

I thought that when I took the screenshot, obviously there are numerous mistakes with it, but this is why I posted it, I want a good nit-pick. Would the shed be too old? do they use corrugated iron these days?

What I've used for the Shunters Cabin is the signal box from action, acton signal cabin its called I think.
And outside it I've put shunters there (obviously they arn't in real life) I've used diesel shunters incase of power failures, behind it is a second diesel of track cleaning fluid to go around the depot or wherever.

Walkways should be either edged in yellow, or, wholly yellow if boards. Also walkways that cross the tracks usually do so at the ends of the trains - thus indicating the safe walking route for train and depot staff when accessing trains. Platforms can be found in some, though not all depots - on the district, they will only be found at Ealing Common depot and are used for external graffiti removal. Usually there will be one platform in between two depot roads. Otherwise - very good

Thanks for that Colin, I'll have to see what I can do about the yellow do you mean they pass at the back of trains? so there are no walkways infront of trains?

I didn't mention that as the walkways have only been marked out in yellow for the last couple of years and if this setting is meant to be more than about 3 years ago the walkways wont be marked.

London Underground depots do not have diesel shunting locos incase of power failures. The few diesel locos are only used on engineer's trains by Transplant which is part of Tube Lines, they are not LU.

img.photobucket.com/albums/v393/chili_peanuts/ServicingArea.jpgI'll talk you through this one, it's looking from a residential home at the side of the depot, you can see the 4 main roads in the centre of the picture diverge into 2 roads going into the first station, there is also a two aspect signal on the up line. Behind the main roads is the shunters cabin and the shunter and the cleaning diesel, these are rarely used , thus the track is overgrown. In the background is a refurbishment project, new track is being laid and a depot servicing shed has been built, parked in it is a 1967 tube stock, you can also see a class 37 EWS with network rail bogies having ballast unloaded by diggers. Any good?

The walkboards are a bit too wide, I estimate they would be about a quarter the width, slightly wider than the individual walkways you have. There is usually another set of walkboards level with the shutters as well. The lowered platform does look better now. The platform in the foreground doesn't look right though, you could do with leveling it.

Regarding the second pic. As DWS has said there aren't normally with the exeption of Ruislip Depot shunting loco's in depots, although the scene and surroundings are depot looking, a bit of rubbish strewn about and old rails will I think add to it.

It looks much better now, Luke. My two'pennerth would be that the juice rails continue inside the sheds, would this be the case? The only LU depot I've ever been in (Morden) had them ending at the shed doors.
Having said the above, it's far and away better than anything I could do, so well done!

How do you mean? are you saying they should end at th shed entrance or carry on all the way through?

In most depots they do end at the shed doors due to the inspection pits underneath, in some places (Stonebridge Park, White City(now closed) and Highgate Depots) some roads have no inspection pits underneath and the rails continue.
