I was very pleased / interested to hear that the T/Op leaving Epping the other day announced the journey to us by saying
"This train calls at all stations to West Ruislip, except Shepherd's Bush; all stations to West Ruislip, except Shepherd's Bush. This train is now ready to depart, mind the doors, stand clear of the doors.."
I like the mention of Shepherd's Bush. Is this just a random choice by the T/Op, or have T/Ops been requested to mention this on leaving Epping etc...?

Depends on the T/OP I suppose. I doubt there will be an instruction to announce that at Epping, as very few passengers travel that far west from Epping. Don't think their backs could take it!

I agree. Not sure I could bear it too often. It's okay if you're wasted. Oh, that reminds me... Was travelling home late a couple of weeks ago. (Not the last train but near enough)...Travelling from Tottenham Court Road to Epping. As we arrived at Leytonstone the T/Op announced the following
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I've got a passenger emergency alarm so we're going to wait at this station until I investigate it".... So we waited. I realised it was in the carriage next to mine. Somebody had been sick everywhere and then pulled the alarm!!
The T/Op walked down and met the station staff by the doors to the carriage. I recall the station staff being really annoyed at the incident. He called to his colleague "waste of time, it's an isolated area"....
We went on, with a friendly reminder from the T/Op : "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are going to proceed. Somebody has unfortunately been unwell in one of the carriages which delayed our journey slightly" (Which I thought was good)..
Anyway, we finally reach Loughton and we were informed that our train would be taken out of service for cleaning. (Poor cleaners!)...We then waited for a new train to be bought out of the sidings for us (or from wherever it came from) It came into the station totally empty, within about a minute).

I suppose he can't really announce "this train calls at all stations to West Ruislip" as it technically isn't true. However, as pointed out, the number of people attempting to travel from Epping to Shepherds Bush will most likely be zero.

In contrast, I travelled from Debden to Stratford the other day, and the T/op announced (at Leytonstone I think) that the service was calling at all stations to West Ruislip, with no mention of Shepherd's Bush being closed.
