I read that Moley, thanks for that! It is similar to when the Northern's 95ts were withdrawn due to faulty tripcocks. Naturally station staff [encouraged by the unions and drivers] put the truth on the whiteboards, that the trains had defective safety equipment. VERY quickly, a memo from HQ came down, saying it should be amended to train modifications or something similar. A lot of commuters are rude, aggressive etc, but let us not treat them like idiots [Although a fair proportion in fairness are]

Having clicked the link to your blog, I just want to pick up on the other point mentioned - the "excuse" of running early......
It's not an excuse but actually a true fact - that's right, the driver was telling the truth!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
I have announced this on several occasions as it dose actually happen, particularly at weekends, and certainly during engineering works - because there are less trains about it is easier to make up time without realising and before long the signaller has to hold a driver on a red to maintain an even service.

Probably a seized up/flashed motor, which had been NDF'd

Good post - t's amazing how many people choose to forget all the times when the services are running to time, and just focus on the negatives. There are a lot of things that LUL need to improve on, but the service runs to time more than people tend to realise. I've said it before - the Central runs like clockwork when there are no issues - to the second. I also think that the overheating business has been blown up out of all proportion. As Art has said in his post, there were issues with flashed over motors which caused cancellations overy a several week period last year. But this year, the Central has hardly had any problems, as far as I can see.
