It is my experience that safety is very highly regarded by London Underground and they would not play fast and loose with passenger safety. Either the stock running at the east end of the Central has had a check, or their is a negligable chance of any further issue before close of traffic. It is very easy to "stop the lot" as a knee jerk reaction give the unfortunate history of this particular stock, but that may not be the most realistic level headed decision. If only Comrade Bob and his merry men shared your levels of sanity... Yeah, perfectly normal for things to fall off trains and cause damage!

Well presumably it is getting viewed as a 'one off' exceptional event and safety checks have been carried out just in case?

I know I wasn't trying to provoke you to reveal (well, maybe a bit!) just genuinely curious! They could concrete over all the Central Line and turn it into a bicycle way. It would remove lots of cyclists from the streets of London, and it would be cheap, and it would be environmentally friendly, and it would be healthy. Perfect! LOL ;D ;D Theyd probably try to install ATP on the bikes, and when it fails you'd have to pedal in restricted manual. Oh yes, then they could also install the Target Speed Chime Box to keep me happy!

Maybe is is reassuring that, for once, there hasn't been leaks and speculation. I was thinking yesterday that everybody has remained very professional about the incident. And we do not yet know the technical details of what happened, which is how it should be. It might be that there isn't much to report, apart from a defective train. A complete media circus would be very entertaining for us, but probably wouldn't help the situation very much. It is strange how everybody has been so tight-lipped about it, though!

I rather suspect it is because it was little more than a one off defect resulting from an error in the depot and in consequence not particularly newsworthy.
Defects happen to odd trains daily, on some occassions they do stall the train and cause a lengthy shutdown.
In this case, probably as it was a 1992 stock, it caused a longer suspension and the cause of the stall did require further investigation, once it was established there was no inherrant defect with the stock then it was buisness as usual.
I suppose TfL could have issued a statement from the perspective of the delay and inconvenience caused to the travelling public, but this need not have contained more detail on the specifics of the train stall, it is pretty uncommon for any statement to include such information where there is no collision / derailment or passnger injuries.
