Upon leaving Mile End on the westbound Central Line this morning, the train started up as normal, but after only a couple of seconds there was a loud clunk (I was in the leading car) and the train stopped motoring. We coasted for about a car length, then the brakes were applied harshly bringing the train all-but to a stop, before the power was reapplied. After this the journey felt absolutely normal.
I was most perplexed by this, as its not like anything I've experienced before.

Probably someone pushing on the doors. Either that or an unexpected load shed caused by a surge in the traction supply.

Exactly what I was thinking, Mr TOK... might have tripped one or multiple MCB's... which might account for the harsh drop in speed!

Was this when there had not been a train for about 7mins? I filmed a train do exactly that on the second- if this is the case then Mind The Gap was in the same car as you ;D

I don't know how long there hadn't been a train for as the train arrived at Leytonstone about 1 minute after I did. It was rather busy though. Based on my Oyster statement and the journey planner timings, I think this will have been shortly before 10:15 am on the second. If this is the same train as Mind The Gap it would have been good to have recognised him, but the car was quite full (and I was a little distracted by some eye candy). I did bump into DStock78 at Earl's Court later in the day, just as he arrived to book on.

I was just departing from Oxford Circus in the rush hour the other day - the train was packed solid someone leant on the doors and caused my motors to drop out - they wouldn't come back in as I crept out the station doing about 2mph. I decided to let it continue until I was clear of the platform - told passengers 'This what happens when you lean on the doors through the PA' - told everyone to hold on while I brake the train and put it in CM until the next station. This seems to happen alot on the Central Line and being in ATO you can only apply the emerency brake to stop.

Looking at my video earlier notised the train said 'NOT IN SERVICE' on the front ;D. will be uploading this video to YouTube sometime for you to have a look at Chris.
