As I understand (and correct me if I am wrong) the Central was suspended today from W.City to Leytonstone because of a customer incident at LIS. Firstly what was the incident? And why on earth such a big suspension? Why were trains not reversed at Marble or Holborn to minimise disruption?

Reversing at Marble Arch or Holborn involves a three-way double shunt; doing so almost invariably forces the service frequency down to a highly uncomfortable level, as the end change times result in long reversal periods.
Likewise, using the crossover at Queensway is not easy either due to the tight curvature of the points and the low speed that this forces. This is not really true for Bethnal Green, though - that crossover is exceptionally shallow and may be traversable at the full 15mph (or more!), so I suspect that it was OOU due to traction current being taken off both sections on either side of LIS.

On a text I got it was suspended (with Liverpool St Closed) for about 30 mins. Trains were suspended Westbound between Leytonstone and Holborn. So I am presuming that some were reversed at Holborn East to West.

Clearly traction current was not taken off then, which means that Bethnal Green could have been used to maintain the e/b service east of LIS.

It was a "Police Request" incident.
There was nothing found before the all clear for services to resume.

Yeah, I had just left Aldgate East having come from Brick Lane/ Shoreditch when we non stopped on a H&C line train! Went to Kings Cross and then down to Holborn, found the eastbound PACKED... waited around seven minutes for a train!

It was called a fire alert, and it seemed to shaft the Jubilee Line fairly nicely, with services taken off between Green Park and London Bridge.

Yeah.. he called me when I got to Westminster WB and asked if I smelt a funny smell, on opening my cab door and sniffing, I did. It seems a few ppl had reported it. So they shut down for the usual LFB investigation. Didn't even get anything out of it grr... not even a rounder cancelled
