Anyone have fun today with the tree on the line at Snaresbrook?
It can't have happened too long after I left, as there were no problems when I heard the announcement at Bethnal Green, but it was suspended by the time I passed through Notting Hill Gate.

I suppose they could have just diverted trains via Hainault, calling additionally at the stations on the loop en-route.
EDIT: Posted at the same time as Artery T/Op!

TRC - it was suspended between Leytonstone and Woodford, but you cannot get from Roding Valley to Loughton without reversing at Woodford. Woodford terminators reverse in a siding, which presumably isn't signalled for passengers, and I don't know whether you can reverse in either through platform. I also don't know whether you can reverse in passenger service at South Woodford.
I presume all the services ran to Woodford via Hainault, with Epping-Woodford shuttles. I was in west central London when this was happening though.

Exactly... Most may have been sent to Woodford via Hainault, and indeed the reversing of the loopers are done in a siding, which is a NPM [non-pax move]. There are no reversing facilities at South Woodford itself... there is an X-over [west-east] at the west end of WFD...

These wonderful ideas for diverting Epping trains via Hainault may look good on paper and appear to provide some sort of through service but they play havoc with the Driver's Rosters. Better to close down the affected area and let passengers make their own way across the gap.

Better to close down the affected area and let passengers make their own way across the gap. Actually, I don't agree. Surely the purpose of running an underground system is, wherever possible, to run a safe train service for the benefit of passengers. From my observations over many years, my perception is that this is precisely what the vast majority of staff now attempt to do.

Yeah but if the driver ends up over their hours and aren't where they're supposed to be it could make the service even worse while they have to wait for someone to come and take the train from them.
Well I think this is right? Corrections anyone?

TP: I think the figure is 4:15 normally with 4:30 as a bit of an emergency buffer zone.

When I was at Northfields, we had a rostered turn which did NFS Dt - Cock - Uxb - Wood Green 4hrs 25mins and then grub. If we managed to lose 6 mins, we got DMR.
