On Friday evening I got stuck on an eastbound Central Line train between Mile End and Stratford for around an hour. The driver kept us well informed, although it wasn't a very nice experience.
I was wondering how long you are 'allowed' to be stuck in a tunnel between stations? I knew there were 'severe delays' on the line so it wasn't a complete surprise to get stopped - but I wasn't expecting to be stuck in a tunnel for so long.
My normal experience is that trains get held in platforms further up the line, so I was surprised that there was another train stuck in the tunnel behind my one which also de-trained at Stratford. I'd never seen so many trains sticking out of tunnels (at both ends of the eastbound track at Stratford) and in the platform!

Welcome to the forum James!
Do you know what the cause of the delays were, was there a one-under or something?

There was a signal failure in the Leytonstone area. After about 10 minutes the driver announced that an engineer was on site at Leytonstone with a new part - so all eastbound trains had been stopped completely to allow the work to be carried out. I assume that the new part didn't work!

I assume that the new part didn't work! Quite. And a friend of mine spent most of the night there trying to rectify the fault.

Isn't that the incident where someone who should have known better changed a Westrace card about 14:30 and then wondered why Leytonstone went red. Later, about 20:30, someone else who should have known better did the same thing. If I was Tim O'Toole, I'd be looking for something soft to kick!

Later, about 20:30, someone else who should have known better did the same thing. More or less. Though I think the persons who should have known better were the ones authorising the work... Anyway, the fault was traced to a defective TCOM card at 0230 Saturday morning.
