Greetings One for all the rare track bashers, This weekend a rather unusual timetable is in operation on the central line, tunnel lining repairs in the Redbridge area on the INNER rail only, so most trains are running clockwise around the loop, via woodford , hainault and Newbury Park, however, to maintain the Inner Rail service from Newbury Park to Hainault & Woodford, there are some rather novel workings, during the day, Good Friday to Easter Monday (inc) there will be North Acton to Newbury Park trains via Woodford and Hainault, reversing in the Outer Rail platform at Newbury Pk, through the reversing siding and out to Barkingside, and back to North Acton via Woodford. Hope thats of interest to some of you. Charmed Phil ginstersrailwayphotos.fotopic.net/

Greetings

Check ahead a few weeks and this possession happens again with another major closure west of Marble Arch, so don't break your neck to do it this weekend, few more weekends yet !

Hi everyone, first post here! (some of you may know me from 'elsewhere'!)
I might be out on Sunday doing the Central line up to Epping as well as the loop, so I can add that to my 'to-do list' for completing all lines. So far completed:
Bakerloo, Piccadilly, Victoria, Waterloo & City, Jubilee, Circle, Hammersmith & City.

Thanks for the info, PhilCentral. Sorry I can't make Newbury Park this weekend but I will catch up with some old haunts (Blackpool , GCR,etc) on your interesting site.

The possession for this work has been cancelled. However as they only found out yesterday, the Train Service suspension will remain in.

Why would they retain the timetable if the closure is not taking place? The possession was cancelled at short notice, just like that? That is unacceptable if that was the case, and a waste of so many people's time and resources. The timetable would be retained because, this special TTN was issued a few weeks ago, scheduling a fewer number of trains and hence rewriting the entire duty sheet, using a few less drivers. People were planning their train maintenance, duty sheets, stock rotation all around this closure, so its not as simple to say if a closure planned in advance is cancelled, then return to the normal working book. In other cases, special TTNs would require similar number of trains and drivers than would usually operate anyway, so with some delays, if that related closure was cancelled, then it could be possible to reintroduce the normal working timetable.

Why would they retain the timetable if the closure is not taking place? The Train Operators can not have there duty's changed at short notice, due to Union agreements

Why is the possession at the west end of the Central Line so large? With work @ North Acton & White City I understand this would be a big possession, but why not at least tun a West Ruislip - Northolt service?
Or have MBCV actually combined works

There is bullhead track and points still in situ at Northolt, and a long section of bullhead track from Northolt to a point severla hundred yards east of South Ruislip. I suspect MBCV is working on multiple track sites at once.

No sign of track work in the area immediately around Northolt station today, but Metronet have used the weekend closure to put up platform hoardings in relation to the station refurbishment which is just starting.
