Just passed by West Ruislip depot today on the Chiltern steam special and saw four(?) brown mark 1 coaches outside the shed.
Can anyone tell what they are for please.
Thanks,

4TC sets were unpowered Southern Region slamdoor stock, for use on the Weymouth service. They were detached from the electric unit at Bournemouth.
The maroon painted set was used for 'Kettles Steam On The Met'.

Yup, tis the remaining coaches of the TC sets. Rest of it got flogged off so I beleive. A kettle passed through West Ruislip today just before 1550, loads of enthusiasts at the station, who then got on my train [!] I had 91001 as my leading car, the Chancery Lane victim, with a somewhat delayed Auto Announcer: I gets to Holborn, and 'she' duly announces it's TCR! I was tempted to make a manual announcement, but didn't bother....
You should have waved at me Hutch!!!

Did you know that the Central London Railway han two tube size steam loco's? The contractors on the C&SLR reconstruction also used a tube sized steam locomotive called 'Brazil'. When these works were completed it was apparently abandoned at Morden, having worked its way there through the tunnel from Stockwell. It seems that LER then appropriated it and eventually passed it on to LT. At this point, it seems that someone realised that it did not actually belong to them so they gave it the number L33X (the 'X' apparently meaning that it was not officially on their books). When no-one asked for it back, LT renumbered it L34 and it slipped into the stock list, It was finally scrapped in 1949. Anyone want to see a picture?
