I just saw on Chiltern Railways' web site that South Ruislip has asbestos and that LU has closed the station until further notice.
Anyone have any more information?

TfL website: Realtime travel news Fri 03 Feb 2006 to Fri 03 Feb 2006 Central
SOUTH RUISLIP STATION: Closed due to emergency engineering work.
Local bus services are accepting tickets via any reasonable route. A shuttle taxi service is operating between South Ruislip and Ruislip Gardens. ****
"Emergency engineering work" could be almost anything. I like the idea of a replacement TAXI service!

There are 3 main variants, Brown, Blue and White. Each has a different composite, but they are all at best "dangerous".
I would expect that there is a significant amount of Asbestos still in many stations and other public places - if it's identified, corrctly maintained and undisturbed, it will be safe for years - but putting a scaffold pole through a sheet does not meet this criteria!
A full breakdown of which types of asbestos have which properties is available on the HSE site, but I'm not in the right place to have the full link available.

From this it seems that brown asbestos is worse the white asbestos (the most common type) but not as bad as blue asbestos.
