Has anyone noticed that the interiors of the 92 Ts are becoming brighter?
Have they replaced the lights in them. Anyone know?

Yes, I was thinking the same thing yesterday. The interior of the one I rode on did look noticeably brighter to me (rather too bright, I felt). Have the tubes been upped in wattage?

Something to do with 'Ambience Levels'. Yup, I'm in agreement the old 92's were a bit on the dull side. I'm led to beleive the tubes have been upped. I'm given to understand the diffusers are to be replaced with ones that are 'less opaque'

It looks like they're using "cold white" tubes rather than "warm white".

It looks like they're using "cold white" tubes rather than "warm white". Yes, I think so. The D 78's tubes were changed out from warm to cold white quite a while ago.

TL tubes have a set wattage, this depends on the length of the tube. So i guess they changed out the tubes for a brighter color (higher color-temperature)

Saw these for the first time today.
The old lamps were colour 827 (warm white) or "almost yellow". The current crop look like 840's, or cool white. The lamps on the A/C/D stock are colour 860 or "daylight" in colour.
The district line introduced the daylight lamps in 2002, a number of stations also had them installed, TCR was one, Central line platforms.

I had noticed some of the driving cabs are brighter than others. Mind you! I've been off sick since November - no doubt things have changed or will have changed when (and hoping) to return back to work, hopefully in the spring.

Mind you! I've been off sick since November - hoping to return back to work, in the spring. So how about some wonderful Q8 type stories of the things that used to go on? Might stop you getting too bored stuck off work!

Gents Just found this thread as I was about to post something about the lighting strips being changed from the 'dirty yellow' to 'almost ultra violet' (more eloquently described by RayB as 'cool white' above)! Is the thinking behind this change to create an more 'natural light' environment when traveling in tunnels? I seem to remember that a similar change in lighting was made to the 69/77 stock in the mid-90's & assuming that it was considered a success then (as the change was never reversed), why did it take so long to make a similar change in other underground rolling stock? Regards Christopher

They did it to 96TS about a year ago, unfortunately they must have run out of tubes, some units are nice and bright others are still quite dull.
