Are the cab controls synchronised? I mean that if you move one CTBC will the one in the other cab move?

Possibly the only equipment which is active/moves in a rear cab is the speedometer, air gauges, pilot light visuals and destination screens (if digital)

You wont see a Pilot Light in a rear cab, nor can you see a digital destination screen.. You only see them when then Control key is put in. If you operate the rear cab plunger or put the ctbc in the rear cab into emergency the train will come to a stop. Apart from that nothing much else works! I remember when I did the 73ts Stock course, one of the faults I was given was a Round Train Circuit loss, I located a PEA that had ben held, then went back to the front cab and found that the problem was still there, and it turned out the rear plunger had been operated! If it wasnt that it would be the PEA that is on the back of the cab bulkhead which is nicely hidden by the J door if its open!

nor can you see a digital destination screen.. I think Chris was referring to the display in the cab rather than the actual blind (correct me if I'm wrong, Chris ). On the 73ts, the keypad and display still works but the destination won't display on the outside unless the key is in.

With the exception of 73 stock, which I have not worked, but have seen this seth-rail-pix.fotopic.net/p16522051.htm on your fotopic site. This is the only stock with a digital destination display inside, the 92/95/96 and refurbed D stocks have no destination display inside the cabs.

That photo is the first exception I've seen - ironic that it's one of mine. That cab was in the middle of a formation - perhaps that had something to do with it? The keypads and displays always worked in the outer cabs at the very least!

Also the rear speedo works as tehre isnt much about it that is technical!

True, however I meant that although the keypad & display both work when the key isn't in, they don't have any effect on the blind when you enter the codes unless the key is in at that end.

I didnt even know the keypad worked at the other end, Ive never been in a position where I have needed to try it!

Who said anything about the train going the other way? Sounds like you're twisting things... I guess it's something to have a go at next time you're sitting in Rayners siding ready to go East - that could be a while though.

Well to simulate it to maximum affect you would need to have the control key in one end and then go down the other end and try it out. So yes, checking that by keying in one end and checking the other end would take a while!

I sense someone laying a little bait in the hope of causing some ruffled feathers. Please be reminded of our new policy!
Colin. As for someone being in a non operative cab whilst the cab at the other end is opened up - It is entirely possible for a train to be double manned for a quick turnaround
