I spotted a flashing yellow/orange tail lamp on a Central Line train last night in conjunction with the red tail lamps. The other side looked as if it had a blue filter on the third light.
What are these for? Many thanks.

I spotted a flashing yellow/orange tail lamp on a Central Line train last night in conjunction with the red tail lamps. The other side looked as if it had a blue filter on the third light. If the light was on the front of the train, it was most probably the warning light that flashes if the train is in "Restricted Manual"

Ahem!!!!! the gent said TAIL light If the train was moving slowly, it would be the same thing, as i believe it flashes front and back as a warning. If not it would be a defect

You're right MA, Gee, you know more about the job than me!!! How would you like to swap roles for a few days??? Ahem, seriously tho, this is correct, it does serve as a warning that the unit is in RM mode, mainly for the eyes in front of the CCTV monitors. I was thinking that the 92's were reliable [!], until one looks at the Defect Log...

If the amber light is flashing on the front in conjunction with Headlights - it means the train is moving in Restricted Manual so long as the radio channel is set to 'line' not depot. If it's flashing on the back in conjunction with tail lights, then the Calling On Light has been activated. This will only flash if the train has been shut down and has been secured. It tells the operator of the train to the rear that the train needs assistance - ie a push out. There is no blueish light - you must of been seeing things.

Thanks guys, it was sitting in the platform with a number of people in the rear cab looking puzzled so it may have been broken.
I was probably wrong about the blue light. It wasn't illuminated it just looked as if there was a blueish lens on the other side to the amber light.
