Hi all could anybody tell me what the lunar white single signal is on the westbound road approaching Ealing Broadway. It's about cab height, same design as a siding buffer stop light but luner white...?

It's a tripcock testing lamp. It's connected to the tripcock tester just before EAB A2056, the shunt signal for the OOS trailing connection between the Ealing Broadway Sdgs and the Central Line.

I see thought it could be but wasn't sure as the central is auto. But yes it makes sense with connection from the district.
Thank you

EAB 2056 - no 'A' prefix on our controlled signals please!
There's another one at A2057 on the EB.

EAB 2056 - no 'A' prefix on our controlled signals please! Heh, whoops - I suck at the typing There's another one at A2057 on the EB. Indeed. This is something that has been bugging me for a while. I can fully understand the need for a tripcock tester behind EAB 2056, but why would you need one at EAB A2057, when you already have the fixed trainstop ramp?

To test what will be the front trip upon transferring to the district line and departing Ealing Bdy EB.

Ahhhhhh - I didn't know you could test the rear tripcock of a train in that fashion; I thought you would end up tripping it by testing it backwards...

You can't - it would most likely back trip.
The idea (I guess) is the train enters P5, reverses and has the front trip tested approaching A2057. It then draws up to EAB2056 and gets the other tripcock tested.
