The 92 stock leaked from the cab roof, even when new.

Answered my own question. Found out the money is to be spent on most of the equipment below solebar level to improve reliability. I suppose it doesnt matter if the carriage top blows away aslong as the car frame and bogies still roll along lol

Why do you need a roof? you don't have OHLE to worry about and it doens't rain in a tunnel

When 1992 stock was running in manual (pre ATP days), what mode was selected for this? I am aware that now there is Coded Manual, Automatic and Restricted Manual - was there another option that has since been disabled, or was one of the current options temporarily altered to allow manual? If I had to guess, I'd say it was the restricted manual, as presumably with tripcocks, there would be no need for that option,

Cheers for that - so what happened when the line was being converted to ATP - presumably you left it in CM at all times, and on sections without ATP codes you could drive it normally?

North Acton to West Ruislip was the first ATP section. When you stopped at North Acton a notice advised you of ATP. The driver then cut out the trip and ATP was automatically selected, coming back the reverse took place and ATP cut out. When the whole line went ATP the tripcocks were removed and ATP was permanently cut in.

Is it my imagination, but during the chengeover the trains sounded like they were hissing air . . I remember being at Liverpool Street when that was the boundary between ATP and non ATP sections, and the train was making a very loud hissing sound!

I don't remember any hissing, they shouldn't have any way as the 92 Tripcocks had no air to them they were merely switches.

ALL tripcocks on LU are pneumatic. Even though they've gone, '92ts tripcocks were no exception
