This my turn out to be a very interesting thread, good thinking settt.
Unfortunately my favourite stock of all time isn't on the poll! With no hesitation it has to be the legendary 1959/62 TS. I remember these things on the Northern Line in their last years and loved every minute on them. I think the Northern has lost too much of it's character now and to recreate an atmosphere like those thngs had would be impossible.
As for stock that is in use now, it is D78, not quite the same but in my good books never the less (unlike 1992 stock - ugh).

Hang on a minute ! This site is about the District. It should be C & D stocks everytime !! ;D
Seriously though, while the D stocks are easy to drive (and fix), for me it has to be the C stock. The brakes (especially the Westinghouse) can be entertaining and defects are great cos you have to work it out purely from knowlegde.

C stocks?! Horrible trains! Got them first half two days running (360 today and 357 tomorrow)... Not looking forward to it! The D stocks, in comparison, are beautiful trains! The cabs are reasonably comfortable and they very rarely go wrong! If something does go wrong, the TMS all but tells you what the problem is! With a C stock, you just get certain indications, which could be any number of things! That's why I always keep Solidbond's phone number on speed dial! ;D

That's the difference between a Driver and a mere handle turner. ;D (Dunno what the world's coming to, flippin' boy drivers, bring back steam I say, give 'em a few years on the shovel, that'll sort 'em out.) (Still having trouble with you know what then? ;D )

Ah - A stock, a good choice. A plus point is that the compressors drown out the "I'm on the train" mobile phone conversations ;D ;D. In fact, the pumps drown out all conversation on some units

A stock > all.
I like the seats on A stock the best.
