I once read somewhere that Debden was to be a junction station for a branch line to somewhere called Abridge. Does anyone have any information about this branch line that never was?

From Debden to Abridge is about a mile and a half so unless it was intended to continue onwards to serve other places it was probably considered to be more trouble than it was worth. Especially when the expense of crossing the M11 is taken into account.

On the map I have Abridge Road goes over the station called Theydon Bois (goes E)
