Why is it that the crossover at Bethnal Green uses a pair of step-plate junctions combined with a short length of tunnel instead of a large crossover cavern between the two merged running tunnels?
It was evidently built that way on purpose, of course - I'd always wondered about it ever since going over said crossover.
