There is much talk going on at the moment regarding a 'celebration' to mark the 150th anniversary of the Loughton Branch next August.
The grand plan is to operate 'Heritage ' trains between LOU-EPP, a Bus Rally at Epping, LOU & EPP Signal Cabins open to the public and a lot more, trouble is if things don't get sorted out soon, August 06 will be knocking on the door and b*gger all will happen.

Hmm... Does that mean that the heritage stock that will run between LOU-EPP (if it goes ahead of course!) will need to be fitted with ATP (if they don't already have it...) to interact with the Signalling/Automatic Train Protection Equipment?

In short No.
As long as the Operationasl Safety Plan is accepted, non ATP trains CAN operate in what would become a closed system. Protection/Safety is the most important issue and as I'm currently writing the OSP for the 60TS Cravens Unit I have to think of all the safety implications. The OSP is about 20 pages at the moment.
If this event does take place I'm sure the OSP could be made available at a small charge, funds going to Cravens Heritage Trains.

There are also rumours going around about a Steam on the Met style of event on Boxing Day 2006. As Met services do not run north of Ricky, the thinking was to run something between Ricky & Amersham, how practical that is really, Iam not sure. Loughton 150 sounds good, You know where i am if you need a bit of help!

The Safety Plan is not the issue as that's 99% done, it's getting someone 'up top' to get things organised.

Is it just stuff like positioning the stock, finding drivers, getting staff in place between LOU-EPP to advise 'normals' what the deal is, posting timetable notices, reworking the timetable at the central line control room, etcetera.....?

Not really, as most of that isnt a problem, where the problem is, is getting senior managers to agree to it!

I have a piece of paper here given to me today saying 'it is going to happen'. As a Director of Cravens Heritage Trains owners of the 60TS I will be involved, but at this moment in time I will remain silent on the subject until after attending a planned meeting.
LU Managers read these pages, please show your support here for this event, and for Heritage Railtours in general.

well done- now all we need is a Standard stock DM and CT (Is there a CT in the museum or anywhere else?) to complete a perfect line-up

LU Managers read these pages, please show your support here for this event, and for Heritage Railtours in general. I don't know whether you want the LU Managers to show their support here, or for the general public like me to show the LU Managers our support, or both. However I will say that I will make a special trip to London for this event should it run and nothing I can't get out of prevent me from attending. Given that I live west of London this of necessity means revenue for LU in getting me accross the capital. Chris
