I'm interested in the series of books about the various Underground lines published by Capital Transport Publishing, mostly authored by Mike Horne or Desmond Groome. These sound interesting, but being from afar (Canada), there's no way to 'preview' them in advance to see if they're any good. Some have been reviewed on Amazon, and the reviews indicate that they are more for the enthusiast. (I think I qualify ) Would anyone here care to venture an opinion on the books in this series? If they're worth it, I'll order a set of them. Where better to get information about the Underground? Martin

Welcome to the forums! I have some of these books and can say that they are a very good read for enthusiasts. A lot of information about each of the line's history, and with pictures in places as well! However, the SSL books I don't have as I'm not really interested in <1900 Underground history which makes up a fair amount of the pages so a warning there if you're a modern Underground enthusiast. Otherwise, a good buy IMO.
I have the Bakerloo, Central, Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria books, and all were an interesting read, especially the JLE part of the Jubilee book.

They are fairly slim volumes, but give a good history of the various lines.
