I've got a book written by the then Operating Manager of the Underground and published in 1928.
In it he discusses the District, the C&SLR, the CLR and the LER. Why doesn't he talk about the Metropolitan?

Because in 1928 the Met thought the UERL Combine were a bunch of provinical posers who didn't know a bl--dy thing about running a railway ;D ;D ;D
(The Met was still a private company in 1928)
