Do trains / lines that have auto announcers on require that their drivers ALWAYS have to have them switched on?
Do drivers tend to find it easier to make PA announcements with the auto announcers on (so they dont have a lot to say) or not?

Do trains / lines that have auto announcers on require that their drivers ALWAYS have to have them switched on? Indeed, although on the C stocks, it's very easy to switch them off! The D stocks are a pain because you can't turn off the auto announcer without also losing the visual displays and the destination! Or at least I haven't found a way except to leave the PA handset switched on constantly. There should be a way to silence the auto-announcer, as it's misleading on the last trains when the connections it announces have long since departed! The 96s were the best, as you could still have the visual, but you could simply switch off the audio.

I journeyed down to Wimbledon once, came back through Southfields at around 22.30 and she was merrily bantering away about alighting for the Lawn Tennis!!! At half past ten at night, I don't think so... it's relatively easy to turn the Auto-Announcer off on the 92ts.
