Just got in from a rather dull day at the helm. Lots of people asking me where Hamleys the toyshop is at Oxo Circus, as I popped me head out while struggling to get a pilot light. Waiting for me on the doormat, was a letter, posted 1st class, stamped with the TFL logo. A vague clue as to its origin, perhaps? Opening it over a cup of tea and a few lines are printed on the missive. Attached is a cheque, with suitable apologies written on a 'with compliments' slip for the amount being 'missed off' my wages from the beginning of the year.
I amost fell backwards off my seat at the time and trouble taken to inform me of a not insignificant amount of money. Obviously, TFL noticed the surplus on thier books and have chosen me and possibly a few other persons to offload said surplus funds. Personally, i think it would have been better to save it all up in case of need.
"Put us out of our misery" I hear you cry. Well, the amount on the cheque, which will be banked ASAP, is....
£1.04
'We trust the missing funds did not cause you any financial inconvenience', said the closing lines on the letter.
Rest assured members, I will spend my 'windfall' wisely...

Not yet cashed in and still on display proudly a cheque to the value of..... £0.01 ! Really cashed in on that mess I think

You'd probably have trouble cashing that anyway; most banks refuse to accept cheques for less than £1.00 these days. If they do decide to accept, they probably charge to clear the funds...

I do when the trains refuse to co-operate... which is very rare , how many crosswords do you complete each trip,? and how many newspapers do u read ? got to be in double figures , to be fair to you though 92 , with all that effort at each station pushing those buttons , then going back to sleep until you get to the next station, i am sure you are absolutley knackered when you get home after your shift

T/op92: senpicdrv: the last two posts seem to have gone beyond inter-line rivalry and are close to personal attacks which you both know are BANNED
It's the season of goodwill
Happy Xmas both!!!!!!!

Don't you have to do one or two journey on the handle not using the ATO in order not to forget how to drive the train and where all the signals are??? In paris metro do a return-journey is compulsory on all line where the ATO is installed which is all the lines except the Line 10. This decision followed a derailment where the driver was not careful enough due to the ATO used all the times.

Yep, We do have a day where we drive the trains manually. I am in no way jealous of the Piccadilly Line. I did not take the post from 'seniorpiccdriver' offensively; my reply of 'Whoa! Hostility detected. Warning! Warning!' was meant in a funny, not serious way. I've become immune to personal attacks. So HAPPY CHRISTMAS and A VERY VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR to 'seniorpiccdriver' and everyone else on this board/forum.

Your favourite charity would not say no - particularly if you gift aid it.
