Gents I thought that the Olympic C-stock unit was to have been re-vinyled last August..... whilst traveling Earls Count bound from Wombledon early this afternoon I saw it go south on an Edgware Road to Wombledon service still resplendent in non-standard uniform - is this as a result of the July bombing and loss of cars. Hows this for a radical thought...... why not keep it..... I apologise if this was answered in a previous thread.

Yes Chris - I believe that is exactly what happened.
At the time of the bid it was predominantly used on te Circles, though I believe that during Wimbledon fortnight it did venture onto the Green Line.
I *think* solidbond can confirm - but I believe he's elsewhere this evening!

"At the time of the bid it was predominantly used on te Circles, though I believe that during Wimbledon fortnight it did venture onto the Green Line". Spot on. It was a requirement that it spent it's time on circles. As you say, the only exception was on Wimbledon fortnight when it was put on the locals and then had to remain with us for the duration of the tennis. It's now used indiscriminately, and was on wimblewares today. Cant remember which train number though. I do know it wasn't 70, 77, or 71 as I was on 70 and I was neither following it, not was it following me.

I thought I had read a thread about the C-Olympic stock somewhere on the site (but couldn't find it yesterday) - just proves what a good site this is for LU information and news... cheers Colin

C'mon, Colin, you can't expect us moderators to know what's where on our 'own' site. Be reasonable!!!!!

If you look down the thread linked by Colin above, you may also note what I wrote: So, this being the third thread on the subject (of those I have noticed anyway - there may be more) the C-stock is still in it's Olympic livery and may be for some time, and can now be used wherever required at any time of the day and can stable in any depot or sidings. I think by stabling it anywhere, LU are hoping the local artists will remove the livery for them ;D

I remember reading somewhere (not here) that trains/busses with "interesting" liveries get less graffitied than ones with "simple" or "boring" liveies. Has this been noted with the olympic liveried units?

Well, I'm no expert (in fact I should point out I have never tried my hand at it) but I am sure the "artists" prefer a "blank canvas."
The pretty ghastly array of colours and decorative bits and pieces on the Olympic liveried trains doesn't really leave a lot of space for much else. And to be honest, I doubt anyone would notice ;D
We'll have to wait and see if other members of society (who blame not having anything to do, so they do anti-social things) can get the vinyls off. I noticed a number of the vinyls were a bit bubbly and peeling on the first week of the train being in service. Shouldn't take much effort to find a corner and peel them off ;D
