Hia, first post but been lurking for over a year now!
Has anyone seen this film and would care to comment in a LU related way? I have a couple of points: The first train - driver is killed by the creep. Wouldn't they notice it was 'in block' for a long time and look into it The second train - how did it get there when the first train was blocking the line? Is there a way to get out of stations at night if locked in? in the central area (Charring Cross) wouldn't there be at least some engineering moves over night?
that's all folks!

Welcome officially then! Don't be shy, speak up more ;D It was a film, they always have things happen that are not true to life, and this was a classic example. All stations (except 3, that I know of) on the network are staffed 24/7, and of course a train blocking the line would 'arouse intrest'. I actually thought the film was rubbish, and i'm not saying that cos I work for LUL, I really did think it was rubbish.

From a professional point of view, there were more holes in it than swiss cheese. ;D Must admit, did enjoy picking those holes though.

...and of course a train blocking the line would 'arouse intrest'. Filmed a lot of it in the Charing Cross area didn't they (I have yet to see it). Therefore, it may not have aroused as much interest as you may think ;D

Citysig - IMHO, this film inspired my interest in LU even more.... but, thinking about it too - the film was full of holes - however, even if it bores you silly, the actress is nice to look at

Just to make sure we're on the same track (excuse the pun)... I was referring to the fact that a train sat at Charing Cross Jubilee for long periods does not attract a lot of interest in our control room, and was not implying that the film lacks anything interesting . Now you mention a nice young lady, maybe I will move it up my list of things to do...

All stations (except 3, that I know of) on the network are staffed 24/7, Which ones are they? Surely it's uneconomic to staff outlying stations all day?

Roding Valley is one of them IIRC.

Why are they kept open 24/7 ?? Do they have mainline traffic running through them at all hours of the night?

Which ones are they? Surely it's uneconomic to staff outlying stations all day? Roding Valley, Totteridge & Whetstone and Upminster Bridge. Why are they kept open 24/7 ?? Do they have mainline traffic running through them at all hours of the night? Read again - I said staffed, not open. Apart from those 3, stations have a station supervisor rostered on them 24/7 because it provides a staff presence and is a point of contact for contractors. You will often find that those at stations outside zone 1 staff the ticket office in addition to their other duties.
