I'm not much of a customer person. In fact, I've pretty much sworn not to work in a job that involves being in the front line with customers. So, watching "The Tube" (Sky Travel), it's just amazing to me how the SAs can deal with so much rubbish from customers.
For instance, one guy having a go at staff at Green Park because one of the "down" esculators was on while the station was being evacuated... I mean... what the hell?! Just get out of the station, stop being an idiot and stop wasting staff time, end of story!
Ugh. Can't stand people like that. I would get fired so quickly if I was an SA... *thump* SAs must be saints...!

IIRC the driver doesn't actually have to interact with the public much, he makes the odd announcement or two, but yes a driver will always get the odd complainer but it's nothing noone can handle, you just stay calm and give them the details. Although I think it should be a real driver making this statement , not me

You just learn to let the waffle go in one ear and out the other. Loosing your temper just stresses you out, not the cattle. Mind you, the odd bit of sarcasm can help!

Although I think it should be a real driver making this statement , not me We actually interact quite a lot! For example; waiting on the platform to pick up, changing ends, answering those who can't read the destination (esp Earls Ct), when tipping out (ie, Barking) and at interchanges. Of course there's also the disruptions, which is when we don't want to chat with customers. Now I don't mean that in a rude way - here's an example: Yesterday, i'd been at Embankment (Eastbound) for around 5 mins being held at a red signal and getting no joy from the train radio. Out of the blue, the platform PA comes to life with an announcement that there's a security alert at Blackfriars, and that my train is being held for an indefinite period. At last the train radio comes to life - 'driver, tip out and reverse back west, i've got trains in tunnels that need to get to platforms'. By now it's been about 8 mins, so I try to get a move on as, by the time I complete the move to allow other trains access to stations we'll be looking at a good 15 min delay. Don't forget, i'm tipping out at Embankment with plenty of 'foreigners' and loads of questions. Station staff? Don't be silly!! So in this scenario - I need to get my train moved as quickly as possible, so that trains stuck in (warm) tunnels can get their passengers to stations. Interaction on this occasion was a pain in the rear!!
