Can a DLR train run in passenger service without a train captain on board?

No he has to open the doors.

A PSA (Passenger Service Agent) has to be present on every DLR Train in service to deal with on board operations (such as the doors, as Q8 has already pointed out) plus drive the Train in manual in the event of an ATO failure.

I looked at the title of this thread and was ready to comment that as well as being a Train Captain, the ageing Disc Jockey also hosts a Sunday morning show on my local radio station ;D
( ;DThose either too young or too loyal to another station won't know I'm referring to Dave Lee Travis)

No he has to open the doors. Not quite correct. The Doors set up as the train stops. The PSA does close the doors and gives the train the right to proceed.

He should have stuck to being a pirate or a half-decent photter. Silly old fool ;D Blimey am I really old enough to remember Radio 1 on 1053 and 1089, before talk brown stuff took over that frequency.

Quack quack oops You'll be saying next that you went to a Radio 1 roadshow! I went to one in Scarborough in 1986 ;D Does anyone here remember 1) Mike Read refusing to play 'Relax' by Frankie Goes to Holywood and 2) Simon Bates resigning live on air???

I used to quite like Radio 1 before it became the parcel of brown stuff it is today, although that's maybe just my age!
I can remember Simon Bates resigning live on air, and I admit that I also went to a R1 Roadshow at Whitley Bay many years ago! ;D (Always had a thing about live radio, and I was more interested in the technical side of it than I was for the actual roadshow!)

No, I doubt it's just you're age Alan, I had to take a temporary job last year, we were forced to listen to R1. It really is a load of rubbish, they have a very small playlist, and DJs with even smaller minds. Our Tune anyone?

Our Tune anyone? Ah yes, Our Tune!! I worked for a while in a warehouse with a load of other hairy-arsed blokes, and the whole job would grind to a halt so we could all listen to 'Our Tune'! The management knew better than to try and ring the warehouse during this time of the morning! ;D

I admit to remembering all of the above. However, most of my memories are around the time I was in the last year or two of school. Never went to a roadshow (but did see them packing up after one in the Lake District once). Mike Read was our entertainment before school (when there was no breakfast television). Steve Wright in the afternoon was a favourite of mine, listening to it while helping a friend strip down his motorbikes (and sometimes successfully remembering which way they went back together. It was always sunny and warm back then ;D Is this a record for drifting off-thread - I suppose not as we are still (technically) related to the thread title ;D

Hmmm, maybe I've incriminated myself here!! ;D Honestly, it's just a phrase, I never actually saw any proof! ;D
